Hi everyone, here’s some shots of the master prints of the 1/35 scale Barrio Guy and the 1/24 scale Deckhands. I’ll be starting the preorders for both in the next week or so, after I ship these to the caster for his quote.
Above: 1/24 scale Deckhands with 1/35 scale Barrio Guy.
Above: 1/24 scale Deckhands with 1/35 scale Deckhands sample casting.
Above: 1/35 scale Barrio Guy. Only 2-parts… body and right forearm which joints at the elbow crease for easy clean-up.
You heard us… Actually, you TOLD us and we listened! The Ian McQue’s Deckhands Series #1 will also be produced in 1/24 scale as well. They won’t be ready to ship when the 1/35 version is ready, but not more than a month or so after we think.
And because you asked for it, Jose Alves da Silva’s Sasha the Welding Girl and Barrio Guy will also be available in 1/24 around the same time.
So check back and watch for that or click the notify link over there in the sidebar.
1/35 Deckhands Series #1 Prints »
I received the prints yesterday, checked them and immediately shipped them off to one of our casters. We can expect these in about a month or 2 now so definitely sooner than the original July estimate. Watch for the preorders to begin. Here’s the photos I snapped of the prints before shipping them out:
Coming soon from Industria Mechanika and Jose Alves da Silva: The Barrio Guy. This tough-looking figure will be produced in 1/35 AND 1/24 scale. Price on each is TBD. Look for the Barrio Guy to hit the streets by July 2012. To get notified by email on the Barrio Guy (and other products) release date and price announcement, please click here.
The First Edition Sasha was such a HUGE success that I’ve added 50 more of each size (1/35 and 1/32) to the shop. Get them while they last! Click here to preorder. Shipping May/June 2012.
The Hornethopter is also back in stock. Shipping now! Click here to order.
Wanted to let everyone know that this project is pretty much done except for the 3D printing and about to go into productions by showing off some colorizations of the 3D renders and announcing the release date of Late June 2012. Still working on the final cost yet however… that usually happens once it goes to the caster for a quote.
There will be two sets available. The Chompbot No. 5 w/ Pilots Set & The four-figure Chomp Trooper Set.
The figures in both sets are 50mm which makes them the same size as a 1/35 scale figure. We did this so that they can be used with other 1/35 scale accessories and vehicle kits. We’re thoughtful that way!
This is a different, very fun, less serious kind of model-kit release that we think you’ll enjoy. Please help spread the help and share this where you can to help us create some buzz. We hope to be able to bring you more of this sort of thing in the coming months. Thanks!
Both Sasha the Welding Girl and the new and improved Sea Life Photoetch set are now available for preorders.
Both will ship Late March/Early April. EDIT: Sasha is delayed due to an error on my part in the print. Sasha is expected Late April and the Etch will still be shipping Late March/Early April

Welcome to another edition of iMech News! This time we’ll announce a new upcoming FichtenFoo/MechaSkunk product collaboration, a new Ian McQue product, preorders and restocks, and some new pics of upcoming releases.
FichtenFoo’s Squid-Shaped Submersible!
This counterpart to the steampunk-styled Fish-Shaped Submersible was started by hand almost a year ago, but due to a less than awesome 3D print of the drill, was put on hold. Rob Fuchs of MechaSkunk who did the drill 3D file for me originally has taken on finishing the rest of the craft in 3D based on my sketches and half-done master parts. He’s adding some of his own touches and the progress is awesome. Can’t wait to see how the dive-planes and interior look. While the Fish-Sub is a peaceful civilian styled craft, the Squid is indeed a predator. Using the enormous screw propeller to streak through the water, it can ram vessels or use its tentacles and “beak” drill to fill their hulls full of holes. A true terror of the deep! 1/35 Scale! Look for the squid to be available late-summer 2012.
Discuss Squid-Shaped Submersible in the Forum!
Here’s my initial sketch with completely outdated notes.
Chompbot #5’s 3D Print and More Jake Parker Figures
Ownage sent us these images of the 3D print before they ship it to Jeff Brewer, the 3D/traditional sculptor who will be adding some final touches by hand. The bot is roughly 8.5″ (215mm) tall and looks to be a very fun build-up. The body is hollow to allow for lighting.
Jose Alves da Silva is almost done with the Chompbot Figure Set as well, and here’s a look at two more figures in-progress. The other figures can be seen in the last news update here.
Ian McQue Figure Set #1
We’d hoped to have this done before releasing the Remora, but it is coming! Here’s a preview of two of the five figures coming soon in the first Ian McQue Figure Set. The “Mopper” and the “Rigger”. These figures, sketched by Ian and 3D sculpted by Rishi Nandlaskar will look great on the deck of the Remora and future Ian McQue ship releases. We hope to release these in Spring 2012. 1/35 Scale!
