Hi. How are you? Good? Awesome. Now that that’s over, let’s get onto the news! This time: SASHA’S BACK! Yup! Also finished pics of FichtenFoo’s Sky Marks and Luca Z’s Kastor build-ups as well as a Rook preorder update.

Ian McQue’s Sky Mark »
I finished up these Sky Mark build-ups a month or so ago, but finally photographed them this week. They look great alongside of the Remora. Check out my blog-post at FichtenFoo and order your Sky Marks here.
Kallamity’s Kastor »
Luca Zampriolo sent us the final and progress images of his Kastor build-up. I love how he used putty to create the rough-cast texture. The Kastor is back in stock so order your Kastor here.
Michael Herm’s Rook »
The Rook and Pawn Brigade masters have been printed and are at the caster. As soon as they send me the quote I can get the final price together and start preorders. I should be able to start preorders this Friday, Feb 15th at noon EST if all goes well. If not, then Tuesday, Feb 19th at noon EST will be our make-up date.
Wow… I’m getting several emails a day asking about this kit, it’s release date, images, etc… Looks like it’ll be a hit! Make sure you get on the notification list by registering for the shop (not the forum, as that’s a separate registration as is not connected to the store in any way) and clicking the notify me link on the Rook page. I’m planning to launch the preorder in mid February, but need to finalize all the costs to come up with a retail price first so bear with me.
I received an image of the printed master parts of the rook (pilots and pawns are coming) today and it’s too cool not to share. I’m told that the joints are nice and tight with the included resin pins, and there’s only one leg printed (since we’ll duplicate that 4x in the casting process for each kit) so we can’t show a built-up version yet. However you can see the crisp printing, detailed parts, and just it’s general coolness.
Also as you can see, the box art is finalized and will soon be going to print for both the Rook walking tank and the Pawn Brigade figure set.
The Rook will be cast by the same firm as the Dustbuster so you can expect VERY high-quality castings with minimal plugs and almost no mold-lines. Should ship by the end of March 2013.
Happy Memorial Day to those of us in the States. In this update we’ve got info on the Miguel Lopez Dustbuster, Dmitry Parkin Vampire, and Kallamity Kastor! Also preorder info for Sasha and the Deckhands.
Miguel Lopez Dustbuster »
Ownage sent me an image today of the Dustbuster final primed print. Looks great and the Campbell’s soup can is a great universal scale device. The print looks cool and I for one can’t wait to paint up this little guy after production!
Dmitry Parkin Vampire »
Rick Cantu sent me a few images of his finished Vampire build-up. It turned out awesome so I wanted to share. Thanks Rick!
Kallamity Kastor »
I (FichtenFoo) finished up my build-up of the Luca Zampriolo (Kallamity) Kastor this weekend. Here’s the final images. I based my build-up on the Ian McQue painting on the instructions and art-card. Details on the build-up here.
Preorder Info »
1/35 Sashas are in production finally and I should have those ready to ship the week of June 11th. Same with the rest of the Deckhands. That caster sent me what he could before he had to prep for Wonderfest, and now that WF is past he’s back to work on them and the 1/24 scale versions.Barrio guy 1/35 will be in production soon as well.
If you had problems with your 1/32 Sasha resin and filled out the replacement form emailed to you, that resin will be shipping out in about 7 days. If you didn’t get the email (spam box got it most likely) let me know.
Here’s a little something cool that we’ve been working on behind the scenes. A while back, Michael Herm contacted us to see if we’d be interested in producing his ‘Rook’ walking tank as a model kit. Having seen this before, as many people forwarded the video to me to show how my own FichtenFoo walking tanks would work, I immediately said YES! It’s a very cool design and as always open for all sorts of modifications and possibilities.
Scale: 1/35 Price: TBD for both sets Release Date: Winter 2012
Michael Herm started his profession as an animator at a games company in early 2000. He then moved on to study animation at the HFF “Konrad Wolf” in Potsdam, graduating with his diploma thesis on showreels and the animated short Chump And Clump, which was shown at numerous festivals worldwide and won several awards.Michael is mostly doing freelance work and specializes in CG character design, modeling, rigging and animation for animated short films. Some of his work can be seen in renowned short films such as The Monster Of Nix, by Studio Rosto A.D, for which he sculpted rigged and animated all the villager heads among other things. And also the Talking Animals Studio productions Flamingo Pride and Rising Hope, where he was responsible for modeling, rigging and animating many characters. Check out his show-reel here.
Michael redesigned the legs and added an interior and missile hatches to his original design. The leg internals have been simplified to be able to be produced in this scale, but he redesigned them in such a way that they’re still very nicely detailed and even posable.
He then went about designing some figures to go with it which we dubbed the ‘Pawn Brigade’ to go with the chess-name of the Rook. This also opens up possibilities for other versions based on this walking chassis in the future. (Knight, Bishop, King and Queen perhaps? Could be cool!)
The Rook will come with two seated pilot figures and the three Pawn Brigade figures will be sold in a separate set. The figure holding the binoculars can also fit into the hatch of the Rook as an alternative pilot.

Here’s a gallery of Rook/Pawn renders and the original video showing how this beastie would walk in real life.
Wanted to let everyone know that this project is pretty much done except for the 3D printing and about to go into productions by showing off some colorizations of the 3D renders and announcing the release date of Late June 2012. Still working on the final cost yet however… that usually happens once it goes to the caster for a quote.
There will be two sets available. The Chompbot No. 5 w/ Pilots Set & The four-figure Chomp Trooper Set.
The figures in both sets are 50mm which makes them the same size as a 1/35 scale figure. We did this so that they can be used with other 1/35 scale accessories and vehicle kits. We’re thoughtful that way!
This is a different, very fun, less serious kind of model-kit release that we think you’ll enjoy. Please help spread the help and share this where you can to help us create some buzz. We hope to be able to bring you more of this sort of thing in the coming months. Thanks!

We already posted Scott Robertson’s very cool rendering of Kallamity’s Kastor, but it’s cool so here it is again! I love the contrast between the paint schemes yet each looks completely plausible.
