Mike Jensen’s Drone Sniper »

Before you’ve heard the shot, you’re already dead. The 1/8 scale Drone Sniper print is done and ready for casting. The print looks amazing and if all goes well with the casting quote, it’ll be our most affordable large scale figure yet, which is the goal for our 1/8 scale figure line.

steamcarannouncement

Philippe Bouchet, aka Manchu’s 1/35 Steam Car is just about ready for production. The figures, modeled by Pedram Karimfazli, are complete and look great in the car. We should have a final, color render of that soon. Meanwhile, here’s a shot of the Steam Car and Figures separately. Preorders start in April 2013!

Christophe Desse’s L’Estafette »

Here’s the final images of Christophe Desse’s 1/35 L’Estafette w/figures (included with kit!). Of note are the new rims. After some feedback and research of wire rims done with photoetch, we realized that it’s difficult to design, (not really a problem for us) difficult to cast as we wouldn’t want to split the wheels in half like more PE/Resin wire wheels do for 1/35 motorcycles so would mean each wheel would have 5-6 parts that would have to fit PERFECTLY and resin shrinkage is always a problem, and difficult for the average modeler to do correctly the first time without needing extra wheels (why most 1/35 motorcycle kits don’t have wire wheels as the default). So what we’re going to do is have the wheels be 4 cool dieselpunk mag wheels, with two optional hubcaps for the rear wheels. We may do an optional set of wire wheels if there’s enough interest. Let us know!

FichtenFoo’s Orb Ship Build-up »

fichtenfoo-imech-orb-wp

I finished up my Orb Ship build-up last week after putting it aside for several months while working on other masters and product launches. It’s a really fun build and if you haven’t had a chance to get one, you can preorder the next edition on Friday. Here’s the pics of my build-up and more detailed info/tutorials on the build can be found on my blog at FichtenFoo.com.

osmain

The Scott Robertson 1/48 scale Orb Ship‘s 2nd Edition will be available for PREorder on Friday 3.1.2013 as well. This very large ship is $155 + Shipping.

Originally slated as a 1/12 scale release, David Richardson added more detail to Freaky when we decided to up the size to 1/8 scale. Check out the old pics here compared to the new ones with added detail. It’s going to be a fantastic piece when it goes into production! Ian McQue’s Sky Mark »

I finished up these Sky Mark build-ups a month or so ago, but finally photographed them this week. They look great alongside of the Remora. Check out my blog-post at FichtenFoo and order your Sky Marks here.

Kallamity’s Kastor »

Luca Zampriolo sent us the final and progress images of his Kastor build-up. I love how he used putty to create the rough-cast texture. The Kastor is back in stock so order your Kastor here.

Michael Herm’s Rook »

rook_lrg

The Rook and Pawn Brigade masters have been printed and are at the caster. As soon as they send me the quote I can get the final price together and start preorders. I should be able to start preorders this Friday, Feb 15th at noon EST if all goes well. If not, then Tuesday, Feb 19th at noon EST will be our make-up date.

Back in 2011 when I first announced that I was starting Industria Mechanika, one of my first collaborator announcements was for Adrian Smith. We wanted to do something slightly different from his normal artwork… something that we thought you guys would love and I had an idea in my head I’d been toying with. I gave him a few rough ideas in text form and what he came back with was more amazing that I ever dreamed up. We initially teamed up with a clay sculptor, but the result was… not good, suffered many many delays, and we missed out on this being one of our first releases. But after Adrian introduced me to the uber-talented 3D artist Rishi Nandlaskar, the modeler for our Frankenstein (email me if you want a potential 2nd Frankie edition!) and Deckhands releases, we finally can bring this release to reality and to you!

Announcing Adrian Smith’s Chrononaut!

This steampunk inspired time-traveling hunter will be released as a 1/8 scale resin/multimedia kit early this summer. In fact if all goes well, it might even be done in time for Wonderfest 2013 in Louisville.

chronosheet

What you see above in 3D is about 95% complete. Rishi is adding and refining the textures and should be done with the 3D by this weekend. Below I’ve added some of the original concept sketches as well as the final concept art. The price is TBD of course and due to the large (and awesome!) T-Rex head base will be a little more expensive than what I intend our 1/8 scale line-up to be as the base will make up almost 1/2 of the kit bulk in printing and casting costs. He’ll also have some photoetch, chain, wire, etc in the box to complete the kit.

And of course he’ll look awesome alongside of our upcoming Freaky Gothic figure by Calum Watt/David Richardson!

I’ll add him to the shop for notifications in a day or two.

gothic03

As promised before my vacation last week, here’s some almost done renders of the upcoming Calum Watt “Freaky Gothic” modeled by the amazing David Richardson. Originally slated for 1/12 scale we’ve decided to increase that and do 1/8 scale instead. Seems that most of you want the figures to be larger and that’s fine. 1/8 scale should be a nice balance between size and costs making them more affordable than our 1/6 scale figures were. Price details to come. David is currently tightening up details and textures since we increased the scale. I’ll show close-up views of this when they’re available.

rook_lrg

Wow… I’m getting several emails a day asking about this kit, it’s release date, images, etc… Looks like it’ll be a hit! Make sure you get on the notification list by registering for the shop (not the forum, as that’s a separate registration as is not connected to the store in any way) and clicking the notify me link on the Rook page. I’m planning to launch the preorder in mid February, but need to finalize all the costs to come up with a retail price first so bear with me.

I received an image of the printed master parts of the rook (pilots and pawns are coming) today and it’s too cool not to share. I’m told that the joints are nice and tight with the included resin pins, and there’s only one leg printed (since we’ll duplicate that 4x in the casting process for each kit) so we can’t show a built-up version yet. However you can see the crisp printing, detailed parts, and just it’s general coolness.

rook_19_lrg

Also as you can see, the box art is finalized and will soon be going to print for both the Rook walking tank and the Pawn Brigade figure set.

pawnbrigade_lrg

The Rook will be cast by the same firm as the Dustbuster so you can expect VERY high-quality castings with minimal plugs and almost no mold-lines. Should ship by the end of March 2013.

Hi everyone. So it’s been about 1 year now since our first official Industria Mechanika product, Ian McQue’s Remora started shipping out. Since then we’ve done two more editions of it and a LOT of other products. Thank you all again for your support. I know the economy is crap right now, but our collaborators, vendors and I appreciate your business and loyalty as many of you are repeat customers, some of whom have bought every kit we’ve released. I know our release schedule is… random at best. I really try to keep the schedule on track, but with different collaborators (with full-time jobs aside from this), casters and vendors all contributing to the same products, plus with 30+ different products in production at any given time, that can be difficult. The holiday season has wreaked havok on it as well, but we adapt and carry on! So without further adieu, the news…

Michael Herm’s Rook »

Sorry, sorry, sorry!!!! This has been pushed back a little more, so for those of your emailing me, concerned that you missed it (about 50 of you so far, LOL!) no worries! I reset the preorder start date to 2.15.2013 (Be sure to click the notify link on the order page to get an email when it’s ready and add our sales@ address to your NOT SPAM filter.) and that should be the last reset.

rook2

There was a few items that needed last minute tweaks noticed by the 3D printer… parts that were too thin to cast properly. I love that they check our work to help ensure a great end product! We’re also working on finalizing the box art and I should be able to start on the instructions this week as well. What I don’t want to do is start a preorder-period that ends up extended with production delays. That’s happened a few times and it’s a hassle for you guys. Better we have a good idea on the actual release date and do the preorder start a few weeks (not months) before that. Again, sorry for the delays, but this will be an amazing kit. So to summarize:

Rook/Pawn Preorder Start Date: No later than 2.15.2013
Rook/Pawn Shipping Date: No later than 3.15.2013
Rook Price: TBD (depends on casting/print costs)
Pawn Price: TBD (depends on casting/print costs)

Ian McQue’s Waldo First Look »

I’ve been hinting at this one for a while now and finally you can see what’s coming up!

waldo-00

The 1/35 scale Waldo is a smaller airship than the Remora with a hull length of about 14cm/5.5in and width of 5.5cm/3in. It’s more of a tug/maintenance craft than a hauler, but will feature a cargo rack on the transom that you can fill up with all manner of storage. This kit will be a truly multimedia experience with a laser-cut wood deck (prototype seen below), photoetch wheelhouse/roof and details, resin parts, decals, and various threads and wires.

I (FichtenFoo) am working on the master currently which is why I haven’t done a paint-up of many of our recent releases yet. The Waldo is about 60% done I think. I had the hull 3D-printed without details so that I can add those myself. I’m doing it this way mainly because it’s a difficult hull shape and I wanted the laser-cut deck to fit nicely. I also needed the hull to be hollow so that I can add a full engine inside of it since you should be able to see through deck grating, all the way through the ship creating a really nice layered effect.

waldo-01

I expect to be finished with the master in February at which time it’ll go immediately into production. Not sure of the final price yet as there’s a lot of components to price as you can imagine. Hopefully the Waldo will be shipping some time in May. Watch for it to be added to the store for notifications soon!
