FichtenFoo’s Orb Ship Build-up »

fichtenfoo-imech-orb-wp

I finished up my Orb Ship build-up last week after putting it aside for several months while working on other masters and product launches. It’s a really fun build and if you haven’t had a chance to get one, you can preorder the next edition on Friday. Here’s the pics of my build-up and more detailed info/tutorials on the build can be found on my blog at FichtenFoo.com.

rook_lrg

Wow… I’m getting several emails a day asking about this kit, it’s release date, images, etc… Looks like it’ll be a hit! Make sure you get on the notification list by registering for the shop (not the forum, as that’s a separate registration as is not connected to the store in any way) and clicking the notify me link on the Rook page. I’m planning to launch the preorder in mid February, but need to finalize all the costs to come up with a retail price first so bear with me.

I received an image of the printed master parts of the rook (pilots and pawns are coming) today and it’s too cool not to share. I’m told that the joints are nice and tight with the included resin pins, and there’s only one leg printed (since we’ll duplicate that 4x in the casting process for each kit) so we can’t show a built-up version yet. However you can see the crisp printing, detailed parts, and just it’s general coolness.

rook_19_lrg

Also as you can see, the box art is finalized and will soon be going to print for both the Rook walking tank and the Pawn Brigade figure set.

pawnbrigade_lrg

The Rook will be cast by the same firm as the Dustbuster so you can expect VERY high-quality castings with minimal plugs and almost no mold-lines. Should ship by the end of March 2013.

Big news everyone! A newly designed online store and two preorders starting on 10.31.2012!

Check out our new online store. The old store software was a good temporary fix, but this new store is a better customizable and scalable solution for the long term. We’ve got LOTS of upcoming plans and new items and this store will be able to accommodate them. Sales and multi-item discounts will be easier to implement and shipping costs, especially to Canada, are more exact and based on product weight. And there’s a new notification system built-into the shop for upcoming items we’ve added to the catalog.

dystopicmaster1

Time for me to gush because I’m very excited about this! I got the first sample image of the Dystopic 3D print yesterday and was blown away. They even put it together with wire for photos before sending it my way. The guys at Ownage outdid themselves on printing this piece as you can see. Gene Campbell did a fantastic job on all of the fabric and chipping textures and the final print really does them justice.

Scale: 1/6
Kit Materials: Resin, Photoetch, Metal Wire, Waterslide Decals
Release Date: Early November

dystopicmaster2

The helmet is in several parts and is removable. I’ll take photos of the individual parts when they arrive. Note that the arm/leg loop-straps are not attached to the pre-build as we had them printed on numbered sprues to make building easier. The flower will likely be a photoetched part as that would otherwise be hell to cast.

Chompbot #5 Print Materials »

cb5-sample-label

Thought you’d like to see the print works for the upcoming Chompbot #5 release. Still working on the labels/instructions for the figures, but these are done and out the door. (there was corrections made to these prior to print if you can see the errors. ;-) )

cb5-sample-inst

As you can see the cover of the instructions is also a frame-able print of Jake Parkers Chompbot/Trooper art! We’ll roll these instead of folding them to place into the boxes of course.

The master for the bot is at BLAP Models for casting and the figures are at Collapse Industries. When they’re close to all ready, we’ll start the preorder for these. Probably next month (August 2012) as we’re still playing catch-up.

Futuristic Figures Coming Soon! »

You may have seen these posted on the Futuristic Facebook page. These figures have been 3D sculpted by David Richardson based on designs by Walter Pezalli and Vincent Roucher (Of Stan and Vince). They’ll be available initially in 1/20 scale to go with the Futuristic Robots (available here) with the potential for a 1/35 scale release as well. Here are some preliminary shots. Almost done… just tweaking the poses and equipment.
