The Chronoaut is now available for preorders! We decided to offer two versions, one with and one without the VERY LARGE T-Rex head trophy base.
Chrononaut Only: $140 + Shipping (2lbs)
Chrononaut + T-Rex: $200 + Shipping (4lbs)
Estimated Shipping Date: Mid November
The head is HUGE!!!! Approx 7-8″ long if not more) It uses more resin than the whole Chrononaut and costs almost as much to cast as the rest of the kit combined. There will be a limited quantity of T-Rex heads since we don’t expect them to sell as many with the costs, but I’ll put in the casting qty order in a few days after the preorder starts to make sure that everyone that wants one and preorders early has the chance to get it.
Sorry for the lack of news recently. In less than one week however, summer break’s over and school starts back up for my girls which means that I’ll have more time to get things done here! So you know…. woohoo!!! Now onto the news:
Manchu’s Steam Car »

Check out the pics below of the printed parts ready for casting. This 1/35 scale masterpiece comes with a photoetch dash, two seated figures, map, and concept art/instruction booklet.

We’re Keeping You Updated With Our:
Adrian Smith’s Frankenstein »
This kit should be shipping next week! It’s been a long time coming and I really apologize for the delay. Frankenstein needed remolding and the caster had to fire his assistant due to not doing quality checking or just ignoring it all-together. The resin should be here by Tuesday and the chain (I opened my order today to start packing and it was the wrong size!) should be here in a couple days as I have it coming overnight. Thanks for your patience!
FichtenFoo’s Dragonfly »
The Dragonfly is selling fast and should be ready for shipping in under 10 days. I just got word that the PE and Casting is complete and they’re bagging/boxing the parts for me now. When it arrives I’ll pack the product boxes and get them out the door as well as paint one myself! My daughter and I have been catching real dragonflies and damselflies at a local wetland/walking trail to pin for a potential science fair project so I have lots of colorful and beautiful examples. If you’ve been following our Facebook page, you’ve seen how cool the instructions have turned out.
I’ve been waiting on another order of the large orb bases for the latest batch of Dystopic kits. They’re coming with Frankenstein (same caster) so when they do the Dystopic preorders will be shipping as well.
FichtenFoo’s Hornethopter »
The Hornethopter will be coming back after Frankenstein’s done as it’s from the same caster. I’ll start a preorder for it very soon as it’ll probably ship by the end of September.
Two kits going up for preorders today.
The Centurion »
The first in The Centurion, a 1/4 scale bust by Fabio M. Silva. This kit features clear eye inserts to help facilitate lighting if that’s your thing. This kit should ship by the end of June 2013. $99 + Shipping
The next is the much requested 2nd edition of Adrian Smith’s Frankenstein. This kit has approx 50 resin parts, real chain and chain maille and is VERY large for 1/8 scale measuring about 12″/30cm tall.
Centurion and Frankenstein Gallery »
Freaky Gothic, designed by Calum Alexander Watt and sculpted by David Richardson is now available for preorder! This 1/8 scale figure kit contains 24 resin pieces, detailed instructions, and concept art. This visitor from another world, lost in time has a head-height (not including the hat) of approximately 24cm and would be a great piece for any Steampunk or Historical Miniatures fan with a taste for the unique.
Price: $130 USD + Shipping
Estimated Shipping Date: 5.15.2013
Time again for a little news! Today we finally show off the Ian McQue Waldo as well as some housekeeping with release dates, etc.
Calum Watt’s Freaky Gothic »
First-up is Freaky Gothic by Calum Watt and David Richardson. We’ve of course shown this before, so this is just a reminder that the tentative preorder start date is next Friday, 4.5.2013. I say tentative because I don’t have a casting quote yet as the master is in port-print clean-up and the caster hasn’t seen it yet. As always, as soon as I know, you’ll know! Until then, enjoy the pic and tell your friends! Click here to get a notification when the preorder starts.
Ian McQue’s Waldo »
I finished the master and etch design a few weeks ago and sent this to the caster for production. The tentative preorder start date is 5.1.2013 with the price being somewhere around $120 if all goes well with the casting quote. The Waldo has many resin parts, as well as 2 LARGE photoetch frets to make up the wheelhouse as well as other details, laser-cut windows that will be sandwiched between PE frames as you can see in the etch design image below, and a laser-cut and etched wooden deck. It’ll also come with string and wire to complete it. There’s a lot of detail and multimedia packed into this kit so it’ll be a lot of fun to construct and weather. The hollow 2-part hull has a full engine design inside of it that you can see through the grates on the deck or from the thruster hole below. The Waldo also comes with a 3D designed pilot by Ian McQue and Rishi Nandlaskar who sculpted the Deckhands set. More info on the actual price when info comes in. 1/35 Barrio Guy used for size reference.

Mike Jensen’s Drone Sniper »
Before you’ve heard the shot, you’re already dead. The 1/8 scale Drone Sniper print is done and ready for casting. The print looks amazing and if all goes well with the casting quote, it’ll be our most affordable large scale figure yet, which is the goal for our 1/8 scale figure line.

Price: TBD (sorry, but soon!)

Manchu’s Steam Car »
Philippe Bouchet, aka Manchu’s 1/35 Steam Car is just about ready for production. The figures, modeled by Pedram Karimfazli, are complete and look great in the car. We should have a final, color render of that soon. Meanwhile, here’s a shot of the Steam Car and Figures separately. Preorders start in April 2013!
Christophe Desse’s L’Estafette »
Here’s the final images of Christophe Desse’s 1/35 L’Estafette w/figures (included with kit!). Of note are the new rims. After some feedback and research of wire rims done with photoetch, we realized that it’s difficult to design, (not really a problem for us) difficult to cast as we wouldn’t want to split the wheels in half like more PE/Resin wire wheels do for 1/35 motorcycles so would mean each wheel would have 5-6 parts that would have to fit PERFECTLY and resin shrinkage is always a problem, and difficult for the average modeler to do correctly the first time without needing extra wheels (why most 1/35 motorcycle kits don’t have wire wheels as the default). So what we’re going to do is have the wheels be 4 cool dieselpunk mag wheels, with two optional hubcaps for the rear wheels. We may do an optional set of wire wheels if there’s enough interest. Let us know!
Originally slated as a 1/12 scale release, David Richardson added more detail to Freaky when we decided to up the size to 1/8 scale. Check out the old pics here compared to the new ones with added detail. It’s going to be a fantastic piece when it goes into production! Click here to get a notification when Freaky Gothic will be available for preorder.

Back in 2011 when I first announced that I was starting Industria Mechanika, one of my first collaborator announcements was for Adrian Smith. We wanted to do something slightly different from his normal artwork… something that we thought you guys would love and I had an idea in my head I’d been toying with. I gave him a few rough ideas in text form and what he came back with was more amazing that I ever dreamed up. We initially teamed up with a clay sculptor, but the result was… not good, suffered many many delays, and we missed out on this being one of our first releases. But after Adrian introduced me to the uber-talented 3D artist Rishi Nandlaskar, the modeler for our Frankenstein (email me if you want a potential 2nd Frankie edition!) and Deckhands releases, we finally can bring this release to reality and to you!
Announcing Adrian Smith’s Chrononaut!
This steampunk inspired time-traveling hunter will be released as a 1/8 scale resin/multimedia kit early this summer. In fact if all goes well, it might even be done in time for Wonderfest 2013 in Louisville.
What you see above in 3D is about 95% complete. Rishi is adding and refining the textures and should be done with the 3D by this weekend. Below I’ve added some of the original concept sketches as well as the final concept art. The price is TBD of course and due to the large (and awesome!) T-Rex head base will be a little more expensive than what I intend our 1/8 scale line-up to be as the base will make up almost 1/2 of the kit bulk in printing and casting costs. He’ll also have some photoetch, chain, wire, etc in the box to complete the kit.
And of course he’ll look awesome alongside of our upcoming Freaky Gothic figure by Calum Watt/David Richardson!
I’ll add him to the shop for notifications in a day or two.
As promised before my vacation last week, here’s some almost done renders of the upcoming Calum Watt “Freaky Gothic” modeled by the amazing David Richardson. Originally slated for 1/12 scale we’ve decided to increase that and do 1/8 scale instead. Seems that most of you want the figures to be larger and that’s fine. 1/8 scale should be a nice balance between size and costs making them more affordable than our 1/6 scale figures were. Price details to come. David is currently tightening up details and textures since we increased the scale. I’ll show close-up views of this when they’re available.
