iMech News 11.18.2012

Hi Everyone! I’m not even sure where to begin this time as so much has been happening. I’ll start off with an upcoming product announcement, detail some changes/additions to the store, touch on the upcoming changes to the “notify me” system, talk about sales, and finally the usual housekeeping in regards to preorders, restockes, etc…

Christophe Desse’s ‘Estafette’ »

If you follow Industria Mechanika or Christophe Desse on Facebook, you may already be aware of this one. For those not in the loop, we present “Her Majesty’s Estafette” by Christophe Desse! Christophe Desse is the same artist that’s bringing us the Red Star 47, Flight Ready, Ground Crew, Aviators and Submariners! In other words, he’s doing a LOT of stuff for iMech and there’s lot’s more to come! Look for this to be available in April 2013.

New iMech Release Schedule »

Speaking of April 2013, I’ve been checking over everything we’ve got in production currently and making a more structured release schedule. This first year of our business has been hit and miss with the release schedule due to various things, but one can either learn from the mistakes or keep repeating them. I’ve always valued the mistakes as they help us evolve. I feel like we’re finally at a point where we can reliably meet our schedule thanks to our now utilizing 4-5 different casting firms and having a backlog of completed projects to pull from. Now we can with some degree of certainty hit our scheduled preorder/release dates. We’ve got 40+ different pieces current;y in production, most of which we’ve not announced! So stay tuned (and start saving) for an amazing 2013!

The New iMech Store »

I don’t know about you guys, but the new store is making things a LOT easier and more organized. One of the new features for those that register with the store is the ability to sign-up for an upcoming newsletter as well as recieve real-time notifications to changed made on the individual products. This means we’ll be phasing out the old “Notify Me” system and start using the built-in store one. You’ll have to register, but it’ll be worth the trouble. This also means that any new product we announce will also be entered into the store system. It’ll say out of stock, but you’ll be able to see the expected release date so you can plan ahead. The main list is at the bottom of the store home page. Here’s what’s listed so far:

New Hornethopter Pilots Set »

First I must apologize to Christophe Desse for not posting these sooner! He redesigned the Hornethopter pilots based loosely on my original hand-sculpts for the first few editions. The seated pilot will be available with the next release of the Hornethopter, while all four will be available as a separate set. No idea on price yet, but expect them in the store within 6-8 weeks.

Fish Sub Pilot Beginnings »

Christophe Desse is also busy designing a pilots set for the original and upcoming MkII Fish-Shaped submersibles. The next edition (6th) of the Mk I may not come with the figure, (as it won’t be ready in time for the next edition) but the first edition of the Mk II will and a sub pilots set including the seated pilots (for those that purchased the first 5 editions of the Mk I sub) will be available for everyone around the time of the Mk II release. Below you can see the base figure. Other pilot versions will have an old-timey tank-top swim suit style, hats, breathers, etc…

Derek Stenning’s Dystopic Update »

Not much new to show here, but I wanted to let everyone know that Dystopic is coming soon! The print will be done in 4-5 days I’m told, then clean-up, then onto production. We’re still looking at October for a preorder/release. Below you can see how the parts-breakup will look. Each color is a separate printed kit part.

Futuristic Loader Update »

A few new images of the Futuristic loader. I brought up that there was no leg support for this heavy lifter so the team collaborated and came up with this great-looking result. I’ve added it to the calendar as a tentative November preorder/release.

redstar-18

Hi everyone! I’ve been on a family vacation to the beach this past week so haven’t been as in-touch as usual. Hotel had great wi-fi of course, but the netbook I took is crap! Got back yesterday after a 9-hour drive home with kids in the car (Fun!) and am getting to your emails and questions as fast as possible. Hopefully this post will help.

Today I’ve got preorder updates for Sasha and Deckhands, images of many master prints including the Red Star 47, Sasha and Barrio 1/24, and Dustbuster pilot, and probably a few more informational tidbits.

Adrian Smith’s Frankenstein: Master

frankenstein-06

Woo! I received the master 3D print for The Frankenstein designed by Adrian Smith and 3D modeled by Rishi Nandlaskar in the post today. I immediately cracked open the box and started putting it together and I must say that this kit is BAD-ASS! Frankie stands about 12″ tall (not including the base) and is very heavy and beefy with the muscles and armor. This kit doesn’t have a scale as it was based on an existing 3D print, but I would say, considering his massive size, that he’d be about 1-8 scale.

Frankie Unmasked!

Until now I have never seen the back of this model or all of the details so when I opened the box and started removing the foam I was in for a surprise. I had thought that the helmet was molded on, but in fact it’s a separate part and Frankenstein has a fully-detailedhead/face beneath it. There’s a peg hole i the top of the head, but one could easily fill that with putty if they wanted a helmetless Frankie.

frankenstein-07

The kit consists of 54 parts so far. I need to order scale chain mail and chain for the mace to include in the box. Due to all the parts and detail, I need to create the instructions for him before he goes to the caster so expect him to be released in March or April. Until then, enjoy these pics!

iMech News 12-16-2011

There’s lots going on with iMech and our collaborators. A lot of projects are near completion a means we’ll start to hit our goal of one major release a month soon! Here’s some random news highlights:

Miguel Lopez Dustbuster

I’ve been getting a few emails and PMs asking when the Dustbuster will be ready. Here’s some shots of the model so far. It’s getting really close to completion and we’re hoping for a release no later than April 2012.

dustbuster-01 dustbuster-03

Adrian Smith’s Frankenstein

This wasn’t planned initially as an Industria Mechanika release, but we couldn’t resist when we saw it! The Frankenstein started as a contest for CGHub where Adrian Smith supplied a few sketches and it was up to 3D modelers to interpret them. The winner got a printed copy of their design. I asked Adrian, CGHub and the winning artist, Rishi Nandlaskar if they’d like to produce it into a model and the answer was a resounding yes! The print is on it’s way to me now so expect this “beauty” to be released in the first half of 2012.

prodchallenge001_a img_6987 prodchallenge001_z

More Adrian Smith Designs

We also have two more of Adrians designs in the works and will be collaborating with Adrian and CGHub soon on another contest. Watch CGHub for details.

Jake Parker’s Chompbot #5

The 3D portions of the Chompbot are at the printer and should get to Jeff Brewer, our modeler for hand-refinement soon. Once he gets them and takes some pics I’ll post them. We’re also working on more accompanying figures by Jake Parker and Jose Alves da Silva as seen below.

chompbotfigs-01 chompbotfigs-02 chompbotfigs-03

Kallamity’s Kastor

The Kastor is on its way to us from Luca and as soon as I get it and take photos to start the instructions, and send the PE files to the etch producer, it’ll be on its way to the caster. Expect it in early 2012!Luca took some inspiration from Ian McQue’s rendering and added the following figures to the kit. Woo!

kastorfigs

Dmitry Parkin’s Vampire

The Vampire is at the caster and will begin production as soon as the 1st Edition Remoras are out the door. The Vamp is our next release so watch for preorders to begin in January!

vampire3

Ian McQue’s Remora

The Remora 1st Edition kits are almost done at the caster and I’ll receive a batch next FridayThe caster has orders to keep producing more after the 1st 50 are completed so watch for the 2nd Edition to hit the site in January.

remora-45

Derek Stenning’s Dystopic

The 3D model of Dystopic is just about complete and looks amazing. Derek wants to make sure it’s 100% perfect before we show it off, but it’s definitely coming soon!

TMMI’s Hornethopter Review

It’s hit the news stands and iPad so check it out!

The Hornethopter In Jan 2012 Issue of Tamiya Model Magazine International!

hornethopter-article-a

Make sure you check out the January 2012 issue of Tamiya Model Magazine International (TMMI) for a really cool build-up and review of FichtenFoo’s Hornethopter as modeled (fantastically I must say) by Marcus Nicholls. The issue should hit news stands in a few weeks, just in time for Christmas! TMMI is the only model mag I’ve ever had a subscription to and it’s well-worth it to check out any of their issues as they’re always full of great build-ups and tips. They’ll be building and reviewing other Industria Mechanika products such as the Fantastical Fish-Shaped Submersible and the Remora so be sure to watch for those.

hornethopter21

I finally started posting images to the Industria Mechanika Customer Gallery. First up are two really nice build-ups by Hunter Rose and Matthew Quiroz of the Hornethopter (in red!) and the Fantastical Fish-Shaped Submersible. Check them out and comment in our forums!

If you’ve got a completed Industria Mechanika model you’d like to show-off, post it into our Finished Models section of the forums and it just might make our customer gallery hall of fame!
