Kallamity’s Kastor »
Luca Zampriolo sent us the final and progress images of his Kastor build-up. I love how he used putty to create the rough-cast texture. The Kastor is back in stock so order your Kastor here.
Michael Herm’s Rook »
The Rook and Pawn Brigade masters have been printed and are at the caster. As soon as they send me the quote I can get the final price together and start preorders. I should be able to start preorders this Friday, Feb 15th at noon EST if all goes well. If not, then Tuesday, Feb 19th at noon EST will be our make-up date.
Greetings from beyond the… something… something! Time for another iMech news update.
Slight Red Star 47 Delay »
Terribly sorry as I just found out yesterday… I was expecting Red Star 47 resin around February 5th, but the delivery has been pushed a week or two back to around the 10th-15th of February. You can thank the flu for this one unfortunately. But I’ll have the boxes labeled, prefilled with etch, decals, instructions and wire and ready to go as soon as the resin is in-hand.
The Ground Crew and Pilot sets are still on-time and non-bundled orders of those will go out as planned.
Kallamity’s Kastor (on-time!) »
Just an update that the resin is on-time and the Kastor preorders will be shipping on February 6th!
Christophe Desse Submariners PLUS »
Here’s a photo I received yesterday from the 3D printer of the Submariner prints. Looking cool! And what’s that seated guy on the left-hand side for? Why that’s a pilot for the original Fish-Shaped Submersible! He’ll be sold separately for those of you that want a pilot for your prior and future Fantastical Fish Sub orders. All will be available for preorder in February along with the new Implausible Long-Nosed Fish-Shaped Submersible.
Rook and Pawn Brigade Figure Prints »
Last but not least, here’s another photo I received from the printer yesterday of the Rook pilot (2/kit) and the Pawn Brigade masters.
iMech 2013 Flyer #1 »
And a look at our next printed flyer for shows and packages. This is the back, but the front… the front is a secret unannounced product!
Happy Memorial Day to those of us in the States. In this update we’ve got info on the Miguel Lopez Dustbuster, Dmitry Parkin Vampire, and Kallamity Kastor! Also preorder info for Sasha and the Deckhands.
Miguel Lopez Dustbuster »
Ownage sent me an image today of the Dustbuster final primed print. Looks great and the Campbell’s soup can is a great universal scale device. The print looks cool and I for one can’t wait to paint up this little guy after production!
Dmitry Parkin Vampire »
Rick Cantu sent me a few images of his finished Vampire build-up. It turned out awesome so I wanted to share. Thanks Rick!
Kallamity Kastor »
I (FichtenFoo) finished up my build-up of the Luca Zampriolo (Kallamity) Kastor this weekend. Here’s the final images. I based my build-up on the Ian McQue painting on the instructions and art-card. Details on the build-up here.
Preorder Info »
1/35 Sashas are in production finally and I should have those ready to ship the week of June 11th. Same with the rest of the Deckhands. That caster sent me what he could before he had to prep for Wonderfest, and now that WF is past he’s back to work on them and the 1/24 scale versions.Barrio guy 1/35 will be in production soon as well.
If you had problems with your 1/32 Sasha resin and filled out the replacement form emailed to you, that resin will be shipping out in about 7 days. If you didn’t get the email (spam box got it most likely) let me know.
Just a few items to report on today. Kastor preorder news and a new 1/35 figure!
Kallamity’s Kastor Preorder

Kastor Illustration Contest Winner!
Kallamity’s Kastor is coming in April so we’ve been hard at work getting the print materials ready for the kit packaging. Part of that is of course announcing the winner of the Kastor Illustration contest! We had 4 really cool entries and would like to thank all of the participants for submitting them. Congratulations and the prize of a Kastor kit and their work used in the print materials and Kastor Art Card Set is Daniel Comerci! Here is Daniel’s Entry:
All of the entries can be seen in the thumbnail gallery below.
Below are small shots of what the box label art and instructions will look like with their beautiful, large cover artworks by Scott Robertson and Ian McQue. The label and instructions will be full-color.
Kastor Art Cards
Here is the set of four 4×6 inch frame-able Kastor Art Cards that will come free with the first edition of the Kastor, and also be available as a separate purchase. Thanks again to the artists for their beautiful works! On the card fronts in order from left to right, top to bottom: Scott Robertson, Daniel Comerci, Luca Zampriolo, and Ian Mcque
On the reverse side of the cards are Luca’s early illustrations and thumbnails of the Kastor creation process.
There’s lots going on with iMech and our collaborators. A lot of projects are near completion a means we’ll start to hit our goal of one major release a month soon! Here’s some random news highlights:
Miguel Lopez Dustbuster
I’ve been getting a few emails and PMs asking when the Dustbuster will be ready. Here’s some shots of the model so far. It’s getting really close to completion and we’re hoping for a release no later than April 2012.
Adrian Smith’s Frankenstein
This wasn’t planned initially as an Industria Mechanika release, but we couldn’t resist when we saw it! The Frankenstein started as a contest for CGHub where Adrian Smith supplied a few sketches and it was up to 3D modelers to interpret them. The winner got a printed copy of their design. I asked Adrian, CGHub and the winning artist, Rishi Nandlaskar if they’d like to produce it into a model and the answer was a resounding yes! The print is on it’s way to me now so expect this “beauty” to be released in the first half of 2012.
More Adrian Smith Designs
We also have two more of Adrians designs in the works and will be collaborating with Adrian and CGHub soon on another contest. Watch CGHub for details.
Jake Parker’s Chompbot #5
The 3D portions of the Chompbot are at the printer and should get to Jeff Brewer, our modeler for hand-refinement soon. Once he gets them and takes some pics I’ll post them. We’re also working on more accompanying figures by Jake Parker and Jose Alves da Silva as seen below.
The Kastor is on its way to us from Luca and as soon as I get it and take photos to start the instructions, and send the PE files to the etch producer, it’ll be on its way to the caster. Expect it in early 2012!Luca took some inspiration from Ian McQue’s rendering and added the following figures to the kit. Woo!
Dmitry Parkin’s Vampire
The Vampire is at the caster and will begin production as soon as the 1st Edition Remoras are out the door. The Vamp is our next release so watch for preorders to begin in January!
Ian McQue’s Remora
The Remora 1st Edition kits are almost done at the caster and I’ll receive a batch next FridayThe caster has orders to keep producing more after the 1st 50 are completed so watch for the 2nd Edition to hit the site in January.
Derek Stenning’s Dystopic
The 3D model of Dystopic is just about complete and looks amazing. Derek wants to make sure it’s 100% perfect before we show it off, but it’s definitely coming soon!
TMMI’s Hornethopter Review
It’s hit the news stands and iPad so check it out!
Worlds are colliding in the most awesome way possible. Two of my favorite mecha designers & concept artists have combined to make a fantastic pieces of art to help launch one of our upcoming products. Check out Ian McQue’s awesome rendering of the upcoming Kastor Hoverank model by Luca Zampriolo of Kallamity.com.
Kastor Illustration by Ian McQue
We already posted Scott Robertson’s very cool rendering of Kallamity’s Kastor, but it’s cool so here it is again! I love the contrast between the paint schemes yet each looks completely plausible.
