Time again for a little news! Today we finally show off the Ian McQue Waldo as well as some housekeeping with release dates, etc.

Calum Watt’s Freaky Gothic »

freakygothic01

First-up is Freaky Gothic by Calum Watt and David Richardson. We’ve of course shown this before, so this is just a reminder that the tentative preorder start date is next Friday, 4.5.2013. I say tentative because I don’t have a casting quote yet as the master is in port-print clean-up and the caster hasn’t seen it yet. As always, as soon as I know, you’ll know! Until then, enjoy the pic and tell your friends! Click here to get a notification when the preorder starts.

Ian McQue’s Waldo »

waldo-00

I finished the master and etch design a few weeks ago and sent this to the caster for production. The tentative preorder start date is 5.1.2013 with the price being somewhere around $120 if all goes well with the casting quote. The Waldo has many resin parts, as well as 2 LARGE photoetch frets to make up the wheelhouse as well as other details, laser-cut windows that will be sandwiched between PE frames as you can see in the etch design image below, and a laser-cut and etched wooden deck. It’ll also come with string and wire to complete it. There’s a lot of detail and multimedia packed into this kit so it’ll be a lot of fun to construct and weather. The hollow 2-part hull has a full engine design inside of it that you can see through the grates on the deck or from the thruster hole below. The Waldo also comes with a 3D designed pilot by Ian McQue and Rishi Nandlaskar who sculpted the Deckhands set. More info on the actual price when info comes in. Click here to get a notification when the preorder starts.

Preorder Updates »

The following PREorder items should be shippigng by 4.8.2013:

Back in 2011 when I first announced that I was starting Industria Mechanika, one of my first collaborator announcements was for Adrian Smith. We wanted to do something slightly different from his normal artwork… something that we thought you guys would love and I had an idea in my head I’d been toying with. I gave him a few rough ideas in text form and what he came back with was more amazing that I ever dreamed up. We initially teamed up with a clay sculptor, but the result was… not good, suffered many many delays, and we missed out on this being one of our first releases. But after Adrian introduced me to the uber-talented 3D artist Rishi Nandlaskar, the modeler for our Frankenstein (email me if you want a potential 2nd Frankie edition!) and Deckhands releases, we finally can bring this release to reality and to you!

Announcing Adrian Smith’s Chrononaut!

This steampunk inspired time-traveling hunter will be released as a 1/8 scale resin/multimedia kit early this summer. In fact if all goes well, it might even be done in time for Wonderfest 2013 in Louisville.

chronosheet

What you see above in 3D is about 95% complete. Rishi is adding and refining the textures and should be done with the 3D by this weekend. Below I’ve added some of the original concept sketches as well as the final concept art. The price is TBD of course and due to the large (and awesome!) T-Rex head base will be a little more expensive than what I intend our 1/8 scale line-up to be as the base will make up almost 1/2 of the kit bulk in printing and casting costs. He’ll also have some photoetch, chain, wire, etc in the box to complete the kit.

And of course he’ll look awesome alongside of our upcoming Freaky Gothic figure by Calum Watt/David Richardson!

I’ll add him to the shop for notifications in a day or two.

Lots of news to go over today as I missed showing off a few things last week.

Frankenstein Printwork »

The artwork for Adrian Smith’s Frankenstein‘s box and instructions are at the printer and thankfully will be here in time for the 8/7/2012 release date. Frankenstein sports an awesome 49 resin parts, chain and real chain mail! Check out the samples below and click here to preorder.

New Hornethopter Pilots Set »

First I must apologize to Christophe Desse for not posting these sooner! He redesigned the Hornethopter pilots based loosely on my original hand-sculpts for the first few editions. The seated pilot will be available with the next release of the Hornethopter, while all four will be available as a separate set. No idea on price yet, but expect them in the store within 6-8 weeks.

Fish Sub Pilot Beginnings »

Christophe Desse is also busy designing a pilots set for the original and upcoming MkII Fish-Shaped submersibles. The next edition (6th) of the Mk I may not come with the figure, (as it won’t be ready in time for the next edition) but the first edition of the Mk II will and a sub pilots set including the seated pilots (for those that purchased the first 5 editions of the Mk I sub) will be available for everyone around the time of the Mk II release. Below you can see the base figure. Other pilot versions will have an old-timey tank-top swim suit style, hats, breathers, etc…

Derek Stenning’s Dystopic Update »

Not much new to show here, but I wanted to let everyone know that Dystopic is coming soon! The print will be done in 4-5 days I’m told, then clean-up, then onto production. We’re still looking at October for a preorder/release. Below you can see how the parts-breakup will look. Each color is a separate printed kit part.

Futuristic Loader Update »

A few new images of the Futuristic loader. I brought up that there was no leg support for this heavy lifter so the team collaborated and came up with this great-looking result. I’ve added it to the calendar as a tentative November preorder/release.

Hello again everyone and once again, Happy Anniversary to us! Be sure to read the anniversary blog post and enter our giveaway! Now onto the news…

Scott Roberson Orbship »

orbshipmaster-01

First up, I finished the detailing of the Orbship master parts. I can’t stress enough just how large this thing is in 1/48 scale. The ship is also hollow which will allow for some great and easy lighting to be done!  The photoetch is underway and should be completed within the next week. We’re trying something new with this release and that is laser-cut windows. If this works out, you can expect more laser-cut add-ins for future products such as pre-cut window glass, hornethopter wing panels, wood decking, etc…

Adrian Smith’s Frankenstein »

frankenstein-01

The first sample of Frankenstein is on its way to me, should have it tomorrow or Tuesday. Once it arrives I can start on the instructions and box-art. Thankfully my caster has a LOT of different sized boxes and was able to pack him into a box, nicely padded, with a little room to spare which will then fit into a postal large flat rate box. I was worried he might be too large to fit, but now that’s one less thing for me to worry about.

1/35 and 1/24 Deckhands »

I’m sorry to say that there has been some production delays on these. About a month ago I readied 30+ preorder boxes for shipping with lables and customs forms filled out and ready to go expecting a batch of 35  of the 1/35 scaledeckhands from one of my casters in the mail. It never arrived. Since then he’s been having trouble remolding the hand on one of them which has made the delay worse. He expects to have the molds ready in a few days and will be making additional-molds (more than usual) to speed-up the process. We’re terribly sorry about this and are working to remedy this as fast as possible. Obviously all this extra time has pushed back his work on the 1/24 scale deckhands as well, but I got two samples from him the other day and they’re awesome! Here’s a pic:

Hi everyone! A little bit of preorder news for you! Both of these will be available for preorder 6.28 and will ship in early August 2012.

Adrian Smith’s Frankenstein »

frankenflyer1

The wait is almost over for this massive beast! Adrian Smith’s Frankenstein is 12″ tall (not including base height) and features over 50 parts, real chain mail and chain. There’s 3/4 gallon of resin used in each kit if that gives you an idea of the mass. Due to the weight, international shipping costs will be somewhat higher than usual. Click here for the Frankenstein preorder page »

Ian McQue’s Remora 3rd Edition »

remoracover

The Remora 3rd run will be available  for preordering Thursday June 28th 2012 around 10-11 AM EST. The price is still $150 + shipping. Don’t forget to add a set of the 1/35 Ian McQue Deckhands to your order to toil away on your airship,  swab the deck, and maybe clean up some of that rust. There are also a few prints of the Remora artwork available for purchase. Click here for the Remora preorder page »

As soon as we have more info on the 1/24 preorder start date, we will let you know. Click here to go to the order page, but remember: the preorder doesn’t start until 4.4.2012.

deckhandsannouncement_0

You heard us… Actually, you TOLD us and we listened! The Ian McQue’s Deckhands Series #1 will also be produced in 1/24 scale as well. They won’t be ready to ship when the 1/35 version is ready, but not more than a month or so after we think.

And because you asked for it, Jose Alves da Silva’s Sasha the Welding Girl and Barrio Guy will also be available in 1/24 around the same time.

So check back and watch for that or click the notify link over there in the sidebar.

1/35 Deckhands Series #1 Prints »

I received the prints yesterday, checked them and immediately shipped them off to one of our casters. We can expect these in about a month or 2 now so definitely sooner than the original July estimate. Watch for the preorders to begin. Here’s the photos I snapped of the prints before shipping them out:
